Widespread internet outages have been occurring this morning which have affected multiple carriers nation-wide. It was noted on a CNN blog this morning that Google was “down”, but this is most likely related to the widespread internet outage, and not Google specifically. Google most likely rerouted internet traffic away from their data centers that were affected by this outage.
There are a few outage reports on OutageAnalyzer.com that show possible outages affecting the southeastern part of the US. These possible outages could affect up to 600 or more domains.
SouthernLight is a regional carrier in the Southeast that is experiencing problems with one of the larger networks it is peered with – Level 3 Communications. This has not been publicly confirmed by Level 3.
