Proverbs 8:10-11 NASB
“Take my instruction and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest gold. For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.”
Wisdom is found in God’s word. It is part of who God is. Later in this chapter it goes on to say that wisdom was there with God before the fountains of the Earth were established. We know that Jesus was there, too. So one thing I conclude from this is that Jesus is a living, human example of wisdom that we can base our lives off of. One of the reasons God gave us Jesus is so we could have that real life example to live by. Jesus chose God’s path for his life, and he ended up impacting the world…continuously! Jesus was fully God but fully human, so if you think about it, he got his life’s assignment the same way we do. By communing with the Father, and seeking His wisdom for his life. God was the one to give Jesus his identity and to tell him what to do with his life.
These days it seems that success is defined by how big your house is and how many zeroes you have on your paycheck. While those things are not bad things themselves, they should not be the items in life that we focus on. God has created each person in the world for specific tasks and purposes while we are here on the Earth, and the only way we can figure out those assignments is to get to know God and seek His divine wisdom. God freely gives us wisdom if we ask Him for it. He wants us to succeed, and He wants to give us the desires of our hearts.
The next time you have to make a decision in life…any decision, seek God’s wisdom before making your choice. He will freely give it to you, and it will be of more value in your life than any amount of money or possessions could ever be. He made you, He wants the best for you, and most of all, He knows what your future holds!
