God’s Rest

Hebrews 4:9-12


Hebrews 4 is about God’s rest. God commands us to rest of the Sabbath. He did it as an example when creating everything, so we should follow that example. It is written in His word, which is “sharper than any double-edged sword”…”dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.” The Bible has valid applications to not only our spiritual life, but also our physical life. God is referring to two kinds of “rest” here. A spiritual rest and a physical rest. If we believe in Him as our provider for everything, then we will experience the spiritual rest. Spiritual rest can produce physical rest, but we must also choose to take that physical Sabbath-rest in faith. There will always be things to do and work on, but God wants us to take a load off and connect with friends, family, and Him. He created us, so He knows what we need more than we think we do. Put your faith in Him and His word today and plan to take a day of rest.
